Game Dev Portfolio

Just a short list of some of my favourite projects!

Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs was my end of year project for second year. It was a huge leap into not only the realm of VR but also narrative and dialogue design.

I was the lead designer for the game and was responsible for level design, narrative design, puzzle design and dialogue design.

The game is about a young girl who needs to answer riddles based on the 5 stages of grieving as she mourns the nearing death of her grandmother. She is attempting to overcome her grief by completing the puzzles which will allow her to reach her grandmother's house and have one last conversation with her before her passing.

There were several different versions of levels created for the game. Including a maze-like structure, a more linear path, and then the final design that we went with, an open world design where players have the opportunity to select which puzzles they would like to complete.

All puzzles used our dialogue system where players would have to navigate riddles and questions to complete the puzzle successfully.

Sci-ber Crime

Sci-ber Crime was the end of year project I worked on for first year. This was a group project where I was working as the producer for the group and was alongside another designer, 4 artists and 2 programmers. We called ourselves Hotdog Chicken.

I enjoyed working on this game as it was challenging but was interesting and finding ways to overcome these challenges was incredibly rewarding and at the end we waked away with a great looking project that was fun and entertaining to play.

I especially enjoyed being producer as it gave me the opportunity to work with everyone to coordinate what needed to be done and it allowed me to show my leadership and teamwork skills.

Grover the Rover

Grover the Rover was one of my favourite games to work on as I was on a team with 3 of my friends, plus they all have a similar sense of humour to me. This means that we were able to create a quirky that makes us all laugh.

In this game we shared out all the jobs and worked really well together to complete everything. I wrote some of the scrips and worked on others, found and edited the music, and did the same for the sound fx, and also made some of the UI.

We were all incredibly happy with how this game turned out as we had set out to make a simple game that was challenging and funny, and did it all in 3 weeks.

Factory Fiasco

Factory Fiasco was my first attempt at a game jam (2 days). I was lucky enough to be working with 2 other designers and 3 programmers.

My role was to build the level and I also created the fire particle effect.

I found this really fun as it was a game that was really enjoyable and I liked how focused we all were. However it was stressful because it was such a short amount of time to complete the game.

Forest

A Vertical Slice

Forest was a vertical slice I created as part of a narrative game. I created the low poly assets throughout the level and managed to create a level that lead the player through a forest to a crashed meteorite. This was quite a large project to take on for my first vertical slice, however I was extremely proud of it.

One of my favourite parts was creating all the assets for it. I had a really fun time overall with this project as I had the opportunity to create the narrative as well.

The basis for the game was that the player took on the role of a forest spirit trying to turn their forest back to normal after a meteor had landed and had transformed it into an alien landscape.

Dirty Chef Yoga

Dirty Chef Yoga was another game jam game that I worked on at uni. I was one of 2 designers that were a part of the group, I was lead designer and my counterpart was the producer for the game.

We were tasked with creating a game based on a randomly generated name, which is how we ended up with the fantastically absurd name "Dirty Chef Yoga". As a group we threw around ideas and came up with this crazy chef game.

I designed and created the level layout with feedback and contributions from the others in my group.
